"Speaking of Doc's babies.... Drifter is the BEST colt I've EVER had. He is just so loveable, no nip, no nothing. Just wants to be loved on, scratched, and just the other day I brought him up and used clippers on his bridle path. He wasn't too bad, not too impressed but didn't throw a fit at all. He was awesome! I've tried spooking him and he just stands there. He's the best colt ever! Anyone that wants a reference, have them contact me!!"
- as per Kelli Anthony, another pleased owner of some of Docs babies!
"Bodie is such a refreshing change and I know that you and Dave have done wonderful things with him. He’s turning out to be quite a crown jewel! My shoer was out yesterday for trimming/shoeing and he was quite impressed with Bodie and thought we made an excellent purchase (I think so myself!)."- as per Gina Miller,
his new owner.
"I love, love, love, that Willow. She is the kindest, sweetest thing. She is so beautiful and I will never get tired of looking at her. I had her feet trimmed & Willow was an angel of course, and my shoer had wonderful things to say about her. Thought she was the nicest looking horse he had seen in a long time, and loved her disposition. Said he would be surprised if she ever does anything wrong, and he bets that I feel lucky to have gotten her, and he's right." - as per Leslie Mayewski, her new owner.
"Lexi has sold for $3000 as a weanling and will be going on to be an AQHA circuit English Pleasure filly. Anyway, just to let you know, she is GREAT filly with an attitude that is so sweet. She would rather be with people than other horses. . ." - Julie Sherman, Aspen Farm Performance Horses
"My mare (Docs daughter) is the sweetest thing on the planet. She has been easy to train, completely willing to do whatever is asked of her, and I am nothing but happy with her. I am hoping her colt is the same way".
~ Liesl Wegener
We will be taking him to the Buckskin World show in 2008. He has been a dream to train. We only had the stallion part of him to deal with and that was not too bad... as per Stan & Billie Startzman, Dusty's proud owners
"a little about him well lets see.... he is the nicest horse ever. Sweetiest personality I have ever delt with. Whatever I ask of him he does. I haven't completely broke him yet, but I have saddled him and sat on him and maybe walked around a little, but even his first time with the saddle and even me on him didn't fase him at all!!! He gets ponied out on the trail when I go out on my mare and he's great not scared of nothing. He's the best horse I've ever owned". - as per Michelle Reese, owner of Blackburnexpress
"He’s such a little love." - as per Lisa Jordan, new owner of Docsdriftn Whsky Jack.
"That horse is so laid back I may need spurs! I just love him to pieces!! "- as per Sage Valentine's new owners, Tim & Lisa.
"Carolyn says Poco (new name Doc) made the 4 hour haul to his new home like a champ, no crying, sweating or nerves! She's pretty happy with this fine colt! "I don't fall in love that easily: but, he is a nice nice little guy! I can't say enough about how mellow and sweet this baby is and I've only had him for 30 hours! :)" - as per Carolyn Edson, new owner of Docs Driftn Poco JacB.
"I took him out and led him through the pasture today with Chex right behind him or beside him. We went through water puddles and with Chex in the close proximity, I wasn't sure how he'd be on the lead, but he was cool as a clam! I am going to start with scary objects next, ie: a tarp on the ground in the arena that he has to cross ect. Doc is really growing and putting on heavy bone in his legs. He is going to be a power house of a horse. I love to explain to people why my horses are so put togeather. Its all about foundation breeding and staying with those lines! As you know I just love Doc! " as per Carolyn Edson, new owner of Docs Driftn Poco JacB.
"He is such a good boy and always seems to enjoy doing something new. Someday he will be bomb-proof mister dependable, he's just like that." - as per Leslie Mayewski, Docs Driftn Tom Cat's new owner.
"Both gals are doing well, Hannah was weaned from Nora (sad!!) and is in with an older mare.. they are getting along nicely aside from Hannah trying to nurse on her lol!! I have been riding Nora every day for about 30 min or so... yesterday we trotted for the first time! She is an extremely smart mare- she already knows my voice commands of walk trot canter on the ground, which makes riding her a lot easier!" --- as per Jaymie Rennert, new owner of Lady Nora Hancock & Docs Driftn Hancock.
"Thank you Jann, for selling me my Dreamhorse"- as per Lynn Lawe of Carnation, Wa.
She is a “one-in-a-million” horse that never ceases to amaze me and I’m so thankful
I found her on your webpage! - as per Gina Miller, new owner of "Peponitas Blue Ice"
"Doc (MW Doc O Pep) has been in training for 60 days now. His body is much more flexible and he is learning to use his hind end and where to put his feet to change direction. He is still a bit clumsy sometimes, but is not bad for a 3 year old. The trainer says that he has smooth gaits, is a little bit lazy, but he enjoys working with him. " as per his new owner, Karen Jaquish.
Guinness (aka Jake) is such a great boy! He takes good care of my husband- always watching his step,
going in, through, and over anything. He's a sweet, solid horse with the looks, athleticism, and color
to match. We get stopped on the trail all the time with people complimenting his gorgeous grulla color.
-as per Tim and Sasha, his proud new owners,
Blue (aka Doc ) is doing well also. I am so very proud of myself for pushing Rob to buy him. He took him on two long hunting trips this fall and bragged about him on every call home. Rob is not an arrogant man but when he came home he talked Blue up to everyone that would listen. They rode out each morning for 12 days in the dark with Doc in the lead and he would take him to his high line spot right on. Rob would leave him for a few hours at a time while hunting with his long bow and return every time to find Doc quietly standing with not a scratch on the ground. Some of the other horses would have holes dug and be hollering but not Doc.
He spends lots of time in the arena with me exercising while I work mine and just loves everything we do. He is a true pleasure and Rob says he would never consider a 50k offer for him. He'd just never be able to replace him! - as per Kim & Rob Sweem, his new owners.
Just wanted to share with you, Docs Lady Kisses just got back from being broke. The trainer LOVED her and
gave her an A+! He said she never offered to buck, was a fast learner, she tries to please, and she uses her
hind end well. He said she is a very nice athletic filly and he thinks she should be a reiner! - as per Amy McKinney, proud owner of Docs Lady Kisses.
I just love that girl! She is such a great little horse. Her temperament couldn't be any better. I can't tell you how excited I am to see how she sheds out this Spring!!! - as per Marlene Stern, proud owner of Docs Driftn Hollywood.
Nellie let me put this saddle on her and we took a walk with it on. She did awesome!!! Didn't even flinch when I put it on. Then I drug a tarp with her hay on it down to her pasture while I was leading her and she let it hit her back legs without even freakin out. Man, I just dig her!!!! Thanks for such an awesome horse! You should be very proud of her. She's a champ!!! - as per Marlene Stern, in a recent email update on Docs Driftn Hollywood (new name Nellie).
Jann,
"Was up early this morn and decided "what better way to spend a couple hours than to really take a tour of your entire web page?" Sat down with a cup of tea and went on the trail with you all. This site is one of the MOST enjoyable sites, pictures, funny moments, and down home passion for our beloved horses. Big kudos for all the work you have put into your work on the ranch and computer. Today might be another good day to work indoors. I explored every photo and read every caption and spent two hours smiling. YOU DID GOOD, to say the least. Maybe some day I'll come and sit on the deck and have a chat and tour of the real thing. Would that be ok? Keep up the excellent work you've done. Love your horses and the quality time you and Dave spend with them. Another thing, visiting your site made me feel like I was on the trail with you guys." Your new friend, Peggy Adair ...
Whiskee - Doc and Dollys (Such A Baby Doll) son. Whiskee has been unruley, but to his defense Tina has been getting home in the dark, so she hasn't been able to work with him much. So she had the opportunity to get a private lesson with Ken McNabb and did it last night. She said within a couple minutes of him trying to run Ken over he asked if he could buy him. He said this is a real nice colt, thought Tina got a steel of a deal and said he was serious he would buy the colt, liked his breeding, everything. He told Tina at the end of the lesson not to sell him, he will be great! As per Amy McKinney - friend of Tina Seek, who just bought Whiskee as a 2 year old from the owner of Dolly, the dam. Update- I went with Tina and Whiskey back to see Ken 5 days after their first lesson.Tina was able to get one more private lesson before he left town. Ken started off with ground work, Tina had already put the saddle on Whiskee with no problems, so Ken saddled him up and got on! He walked him around, trotted a little and was throwing a rope off him in no time! Whiskee was a champ! Ken told Tina again he was a real nice colt!
"I gave Doc his first series of vaccinations today. 5 way flu vac and west nile. He didn't even flinch. I used my large roaching sheers on Chex the other day and did his fetlocks. These clippers are really loud. Doc was right on the other side of the fence and didn't react. I put his halter on and turned them on. He didn't get to excited. I put them on his shoulder while they were running and he smelled them but was resistant when I tried to do his legs. He was really good about it. I've had those clippers since I was 21 and they have done lots of horses. Most of the horses have really acted scared the first time around them. Just another testament about the calm demeanor of the horses you are breeding!" - as per Carolyn Edson, new owner of Docs Driftn Poco JacB (she renamed him Doc).
"Thank you for selling me Booger, I absolutely love him! - as per Tia Trump, Cash's new owner.
"My nephew's wife was at a BBQ last night (she is a horsey gal from Finley) and I told her about Crystal. Then I mentioned I may be thinking about booking her to Doc next year. She raved over him. "He has such a good mind and it all passes to the foals". It's so nice to throw out your names and Docs and have people respond so positively. She gave the thumbs up about my selection of studs. Have a super nice day," Peg
These fillies are so awesome ........they will be 3 months this weekend. Doc sure has very personable foals and they sure put out the look at me vibs cuz this makes the 3rd family (to stop by & see them) in 3 months ..... I wasn't gonna breed for a few years but with Reba getting older I believe I will breed her back to Doc next year ..... these are the best foals I've ever had .... Linda, proud owner of 2 fine 2008 fillies out of her mares, sired by Doc.
Oh my gosh, she's wonderful. I've saddled her quite a few times already, ponied her, bit her up last week and she didn't mouth the bit or cause any fuss AT ALL.... she loves to come over and say hello. She loves to be scratched and hugged. I really feel like I scored with her. She is absolutely fantastic. I have high hopes for her!!!! - Marlene Stern, in a recent email update on Docs Driftn Hollywood (new name Nellie).
"I thought I would finally send some pix your way, since Hanna is all shedded out and gorgeous! I have been working with her (not as much as I'd like though) on ground manners and getting her used to the saddle and bit. She definitely looks gorgeous all tacked up.. I can't wait to ride her next spring! She has her momma's face and occasional punk attitude, and her daddy's coat and lavish fluffy mane and tail. She is very loving." - as per Jammie Rennert, owner of Hanna, a 2007 filly out of Doc.
"I am just emailing to tell you I am the proud new owner of Gunny! Reading your site, it said that Gunny was one of your favorite Mares. I just wanted to tell you that she has found her new (Last) home. She is a beautiful mare and has such a kind disposition. She settled in so well and no issues, I imagine she'll be the best mama as she is so darn sweet. I am the luckiest girl in the whole world. I thought I was with my babies, but Angie and Kelly were meant for her (famous cutting filly) and Gunny was meant for me.. Thanks to everyone .. Hugs to all, I feel so so so happy, and shes big and very forward.................................... YEah!!!!! OMG I just had to tell you again and again how much I LOVE gunny and how she is so meant to be here. I promise to LOVE HER always as much or more than you did..
She is my main squeeze, I almost feel guilty with the other mare here, but I'm totally committed to her. She is so good and beautiful and she doesn't care about the jingling of the chimes in her stall or even walking into Emma's stall where I have the tarp hanging down. ( its done on purpose). She's going to do awsome in a trail class!
Her turning on her forehand is awsome.Thank you thank you again. You never need worry that she will be sold, unless something happens to me. But if that being the case I will have a trainer show her for me, as I want her to be shown off to the world. Shes so beautiful! Hope you are well! "- As per Marlene Leroux, proud new owner of Gunnys Lucky Lady.
Rob had a great hunt this year getting this 6x6 in Oregon with his long bow. The trip was made fantastic due to Doc being along and helping with the work. Once again Doc was relaible, dependable, perfect mannered and took care of the hunters every step of the way on the 4am ride each morning out. They left camp in the dark, rode about a hour to the high-line and Doc lead the whole way. Rob bragged about him never once brushing him under a branch. They just didn't need a light, he was so safe and sure footed. It will do Jann's heart good to know that before they drive out for their trip Doc has his own box of things needed, the vet kit, his blanket and his favorite grain to reward him each night. Rob went from a horse needer to a horse lover. He says no amount of money would take him away from our home.
This year he has just beautifly filled put and taken Rob on safe and fun trips. I still can't thank you guys enough for the wonderful horse you trained and sent on to us.
I hope you are well and finding time to have fun, we sure are!!
Take care and never hesitate to let us now if you are in our neck of the woods, we still hope for a trail ride with you both!
Wishing you the best, Rob and Kim - Proud new owners of "Blue (IC Smokin Blue Jet) - new name Doc.
Today I cinched the saddle up on Doc for the first time. He did fantastic! I turned him loose and he just played with the stirrups a little. I went in after he walked around some and asked him to send around in a
circle. He trotted for just a few seconeds but did not blow up or buck! He went the direction I sent him and faced up to me when I asked him to, and went the opposite direction. No resistance from him at
all! He is so calm about everything I do with him. What a great mind he has! I am so excited about his progress! Excellent for a 17 month old. :)
Your Stallion is producing intelligent, calm, friendly, responsive and well bodied off spring. I know you are proud of him! Love, Love , Love him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Carolyn
Jann,
Can I tell you that my Jim Dandy's Doc out of Doc and Heidis Starburst is the best guy ever, I have had people stop and ask to come and see him, when he is a year and half and at that funny awkward stage. But he is still the most handsome guy. He is buttermilk dun with heavily frosted mane and tail I will try and get a photo for you. Anyway Heidi is my husbands trail horse and My trailhorse is an arabian Mare that I want to keep forever and the only way is to breed, her, with Docs temperment and her loyalty I will have a riding partner until I am 90. So I was hoping in early march to bring her to you... Frances Cline (I now have photos of this colt on my "Some pictures of Docs foals" pages.
She is what you said..and then some ....she is young but my goddness jann she is awesome, the moment she gained jamees trust (which by the way wasnt even 5min) she realized the whip wasnt going to hurt her...she walked right up to jamee and jamee put a Bitless Bridal on her and mounted and walked off..she was sooooo beautiful..I almost cried...jamee said this horse has been messed with and I said Nope never had a saadle on her..you had just loved her and showed her what trust was..she couldnt belive lita never been ridden.lita kept her head at a western pleasure show horse level.. ... as per Donnell Howard, new owner of Velvalita Two.
